Susan O. Brauer chosen as the “2011 Communicator of Achievement”

Chicago area native, Susan Brauer is not only an award winning author, Electrical Engineer, Dean of Academics at DeVry University’s Chicago Campus,  an empowering public speaker, and a passionate advocate of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) in education, she has been awarded the honor of  “2011 Communicator of Achievement” (COA) by the Illinois Woman’s Press Association (IWPA).  This prestigious award is the highest honor bestowed by the IWPA upon those members who have distinguished themselves within and beyond their profession. The IWPA will honor its 2011 award recipient, Susan O. Brauer at the Illinois Woman’s Press Association's Awards Luncheon being held on May 21 at Union League Club in Chicago.

Each year an award recipient, chosen from nominees selected by state affiliates is nationally recognized for exceptional achievement in the communications field, service to National Federation of Press Women (NFPW) and to the community. The COA award winner and the runner-up are announced and honored at the Communicator of Achievement Award Banquet scheduled during NFPW’s annual conference in Council Bluffs, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska, September 8-10, 2011.

 Founded in 1885 by Chicago's earliest women journalists, the Illinois Woman's Press Association now includes journalists, freelance writers, book authors, public relations practitioners, educators and other professional communicators.
